Where Knowledge Meets Inspiration

Come share your knowledge and be inspired at The Celebration of Teaching & Learning 2010! The Celebration—presented by THIRTEEN and WLIW21—is a premier professional development conference that brings together the world’s best thinkers, practitioners, and more than 8,500 educators to share their passion for teaching and learning. This two-day experience for educators happens March 5-6, 2010 at the Hilton New York in New York City.

A prominent educator once dubbed the Celebration as the “World’s Fair of Education.” Our fifth anniversary will focus on the theme of Creativity and brings experts and content from the areas of English Language Arts, Instructional Technology, Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), Social Studies and Whole School Issues.

Throughout the two days, Celebrants will experience four distinct learning environments through our six plenary sessions, nearly 40 Featured Speaker sessions, over 100 hands-on “In the Classroom” workshops, and two filled exhibitor halls featuring the latest in educational tools, interactive events and book signings.

The Celebration is perhaps best known for its remarkable Keynote Speakers, men and women who are at the very top of their fields and whose insight will raise your expectations for your profession and for yourselves. Past notable speakers have included UN Messenger of Peace Jane Goodall, Google Chairman and CEO Eric Schmidt, world-renowned autistic scholar Temple Grandin, MacArthur Genius Award-winning environmental pioneer Majora Carter, and many more.

Who will you meet at the Celebration? Most importantly, your peers! Last year, educators from all 50 states, D.C. and Canada all came together to help shape the future of our schools. You can expect more than 8,500 educators in attendance including global experts, activists, academics, thinkers and educators sharing the best in education practice and infuse creativity and curiosity into K-12 classrooms.

We hope to see you there! Come play a role in shaping the future of schools on March 5th and 6th! Register now for the 2010 Celebration of Teaching & Learning.

About the THIRTEEN Education Department
For nearly half a century, New York’s THIRTEEN has served as a principal multimedia provider for educational, informational, and cultural products and services, reflecting our diverse and complex world. THIRTEEN, however, is far more than quality television – our highly recognized Education Department and Life After Broadcast (LAB) unit extend the impact of on-air programs to reach and enrich the lives of our community-at-large, from preschoolers to adult learners. As video and other visual media have become increasingly significant parts of the educational process, we have trained over 150,000 educators nationwide in the effective use of technology – educational television, the Internet, and software – in the classroom and beyond.
